Dear 70mm friends

We are looking forward to seeing all of you again in Bradford in March 2011. Come and see Cinerama and 70mm in all its splendour. We will include new 4k DCP prints of classic widescreen and large format films, as well as a mix of new and old 70mm prints, from the vaults and collectors alike, in its 70mm curved screen splendour.

For bookings contact Jeni Hall at the Museum on 01274 - 203442 or email Jennifer.Hall@NationalMediaMuseum.org.uk

Programme details can also be found at http://www.in70mm.com/pictureville/2011/index.htm and

And detail on the films at http://www.in70mm.com/pictureville/2011 ... /index.htm

Also the Museum’s own page at http://www.nationalmediamuseum.org.uk/n ... screen.asp

Bill and I look forward to seeing you there.

New 4K DCPs of old films? Wow, the new exhibition model for showing digitized verisons of older 70mm classics definitely has started. Then I will wait until it comes here rather than travelling to Bradford. Not too fond of old images faded to red and magnetic sound hiss sans-Dolby. I went to Bradford for the first time (and only time) in 1986. This is where I discovered IMAX with "We are born of stars" in 3D 15/70. Kind of cool ;-)

Same here, I saw a faded print of Spartacus at La Cinémathèque Française two years ago, I must confess I was kinda disappointed, though it sharpess was indeed impressive next to the "Scope" print that was projected as a comparison.

I was wondering, will Bradford still exist when those who were born with 70mm will have passed away ?
